06 – Hostile filming protocol
Determine and pack what safety clothing and equipment you'll need to protect yourself from conflict and environmental factors. Will you be in a war zone vulnerable to attack by live ammunition, blast fragmentation, tear gas, chemical weapons, or falling pieces of masonry? Will you be somewhere that is prone to flooding or extreme weather?
Be aware that some PPE could increase your risk profile. For example, think carefully about openly wearing flak jackets, helmets, and masks. What are the local norms? You'll attract less unnecessary attention if you follow them.
